LANXESS is selling its chrome chemicals business to Brother Enterprises, a Chinese leather chemicals producer. Both companies signed a respective agreement yesterday evening, August 12, 2019.

Since Wednesday, June 19th 2019 there have been striking activities by members of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) at LANXESS Chrome Mining (Pty) Ltd (LCM) site in Rustenburg. The strike activities started on the morning of June 19th 2019, when 290 NUMSA members embarked on an underground sit-in strike during their dayshift. The strike has been declared illegal by a Johannesburg court but is ongoing.
